Education for Sustainable Development within the core curriculum and beyond: A living lab approach (November 2021). This practice guide explores the University of Warwick’s Division of Global Sustainable Development which is committed to creating learning opportunities for students that offer real-life challenges that develop competencies, skills and preparing students for challenges beyond their studies.

Research in Action – Living Labs approach (November 2021). This practice guide explores Research in Action, University of Leicester initiative designed to help students gain authentic knowledge and research skills and gain experiences that will enhance their employability. Using the Living Labs or co-production approach, the project provides an opportunity for students, academic and professional staff and external stakeholders, to work together on collaborative research projects tackling real-world sustainability problems.

The Stories we Live By: a free online course about sustainability and the role of language in shaping society (November 2021). This practice guide explores ‘The Stories we Live By’, a free online course from the University of Gloucestershire that explores the role of language in promoting unsustainable behaviour and inspiring people to help build a more sustainable society. It is underpinned by ecolinguistics, which emphasises the importance of language in influencing how we think, talk and act.

The SDG challenge: Encouraging business school educators to embed sustainability into their teaching (November 2021). This practice guide explores the SDG Challenge, launched by the University of Glasgow in 2020. The project challenges teaching staff to integrate one or more of the SDGs into their teaching and course content.

A Five-Step Framework for a whole-institution approach to embedding ESD (November 2021). This practice guide explores the University of Sheffield’s Five Step Framework, which aims to provide a shared pathway and common language for achieving the university aspirations to embed Education for Sustainable Development in all courses by 2025 and to give students a voice in sustainability decision-making.
