This Global Conference (flyer is available here) will introduce key elements of the bottom-up approaches for climate-resilient water resources management by bringing together a High-level Science Policy Panel to discuss the contrasting paradigms of bottom-up vs. top-down approaches, and three discussion panels where it will be highlighted the role of bottom-up approaches to incorporate climate risks into decision making, how to deal with the uncertainty of hydroclimatic events, and the role of water as a climate connector.
The necessary policies and institutional capacities to incorporate these approaches within national and international climate programmes will be a central part of the discussion, and the outcomes of the Conference are expected to contribute positively to the water-related discussions to be held at COP26, that will take place from 31 October to 12 November 2021, in Glasgow (United Kingdom).
