Landslide Monthly News

This web view provides a multilingual coverage of the worldwide news published during the last month on landslide-related topics – it is providing a media stream capturing news articles published worldwide on these topics in 60+ languages. It includes on:

  • the right hand side the main topics present in the news articles captured on the daily basis presented as a word cloud,
  • below the word cloud, the overall news sentiment is calculated (from negative (0) to very positive (1) for a chosen date) and shown in the map and the moving gauge, and on
  • the left hand side a list of daily news which you can scroll down and select to be redirected to the news source.

For your convenience, a word cloud is shown to summarise the main concepts being discussed, captured as wikidata concepts agnostic to the language the news are written in.
The sentiment analysis helps to understand emotional tone in daily news around the globe and thus we can gain insight into general public perceptions of landslide risks expressed by journalists and/or individuals.
