The Council for Development prepares, coordinates, and organizes public expert debates on the fundamental issues of social development, with long-term significant consequences for Slovenian society. To this end, it prepares annual plans of public consultations and other forms of public debates, ensures their interdisciplinary concept, appoints working groups members for their implementation and preparation of proceedings, maintains a web portal for the purpose of making publicly available documents on its work, and, if necessary, issues and conveys the conclusions of public debates to competent national authorities as well as informs the general public about them and performs other activities related to the role of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Dr. Mikoš is a member of the Council for Development – his latest support to the Council was his collaboration in the working group to analyze the Slovenian National Plan 2021-2027 (called NOO) for the EU Recovery and Resilience Fund, and in the strategic group to prepare a new version of the Research and Innovation Strategy of Slovenia 2021-2030 (called RISS) that was adopted by the Council for Development on its meeting on July 28, 2021. The new version of the strategy was submitted to the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports (MIZŠ).
